This depends on the nature and complexity of the document and whether the document is complete or requires additional drafting. The Notary will do their best to ensure that your document will do what it is supposed to do which sometimes means making amendments or drafting additional sections to ensure it complies with the laws of England and Wales as well as the receiving jurisdiction.
What idetification does a Notary Public need to see?

How do I know if I need an apostille or legalisation
You can check the status of a jurisdiction on the
Hague Conference website. It is usually worth checking with the recipient of your document though as they should have an idea of what formalities they expect you to comply with. We can also help you.
Just ask.
What is an apostille?
An
apostille
is a stamp from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office that verifies the authenticity of a Notary's seal.
Can a notary see me at home?
Absolutely. My Notary Public offer a mobile service and can see you at your home or place of work. Just
get in touch
to discuss your requirements.
What is the best way to contact My Notary Public?
Email, Whatsapp, via our
webform, Facebook messenger, or even the telephone! We have never been contacted via carrier pigeon but would not rule it out as a possibility.
What are My Notary Public's opening hours?
My Notary Public operates flexible working times so even if it is outside of usual office hours it is still worth getting
in touch if you require a notary. Our core working hours are loosely based around the school day but
appointments are often available at evenings and weekends.
Can a solicitor provide a notarial certificate?
No, unless they are also a notary. Notaries have international recognition, whereas solicitors are recognised within England & Wales. Some international forms may refer to a Commissioner of/ for Oaths. Unless the document originated in England & Wales it is unlikely to mean an English Commissioner of oaths.
I need a Commissioner of Oaths for an English document - Can you help?
Although all English and Welsh notaries are also commissioners of oaths, My Notary Public no longer offers this service. We can notarise your document if you wish and a notarial certificate will be acceptable wherever a Commissioner of Oaths is acceptable, however, due to old legislation that remains in force, there is a statutory price cap which means that going to a Commissioner of Oaths will normally work out a lot cheaper than notarisation. Please be aware that this is specific only to documents intended only for use within England and Wales. If your document might be used elsewhere then you need a notary.
