Identification

IDENTIFICATION

We will need to be satisfied of your identity when you attend an appointment. The most straight forward way of achieving this is if you bring appropriate ID.

The typical requirements for most appointments will be 1x photo ID and 1x separate proof of address issued within the last 6 months.

If your recipient has asked for something specific or identifies you using a particular form of ID then you should bring original evidence of that ID with you.

ID proof must be original. It must be an obvious original and if you are in any doubt as to whether it will be accepted then please check with me.

Electronic ID, scans, pdfs and print outs are not original documents.

ID documents must be valid at the date of the appointment

There will be some limited situations where a driving license is acceptable as a proof of address. Typically a driving license will only be acceptable proof of address if issued within the last 6 months.

To most appointments you should bring one item from list A and one different item from list B

If you do not have items from both lists then please inform us of what you do have.

List A - Photo-ID

  • Passport
  • UK or European photocard driving licence
  • National identity card (EEA state members)
  • Other UK government issue ID (with photo and signature)

List B - Proof of address

(Issued within the last 6 months unless otherwise stated)

  • Utility bill*
  • Bank statement or letter from bank posted within the last six months (ONLY posted originals are acceptable)
  • Council tax bill/ statement for the current period*
  • Letters from government bodies includes HMRC / Inland revenue letters / tax demands / self-assessment statements etc or benefits letters.

* If you intend on relying on an electronic document such as a utility bill or council tax bill then there will be a £10 surcharge. You will be expected to log into your account to present the document in the portal or provider’s website OR on the original email that they sent to you (not an email that has subsequently been forwarded). Do not download the documents in advance as only the document in the app will be acceptable. You should ensure that you know your passwords and how to find the correct information before the appointment.

If we are unable to complete your paperwork at the appointment due to a failure to bring the correct ID there will be a charge for the wasted appointment slot (usually £50).

We will process your data in accordance with the data agreement contained within our terms and conditions
